Classic American and European Style Cuisine:

Banyans on the Ridge
1260 Palouse Ridge Drive, Pullman, WA 99163
Known simply as "Banyans" by many locals, this restaurant (with a classy dedicated bar section as well) located in the WSU Golf Club House does not disappoint.  Whether or not you are going to be driving a few holes or just showing up for food and drink, the smart casual atmosphere of Banyans, nice selection of beer and wine, reasonable prices, and, of course, delicious food, will keep you coming back for more time and time again.  Check out their website through the link to their homepage above, or jump straight to the menu section here.

Birch & Barley
1360 Bishop Boulevard, Pullman, WA 99163
Located in the old Pete's Bar & Grill building on Bishop Boulevard, for those who remember Pete's, this classic American sit-down restaurant has a full menu of appetizers, soups, salads, and entrees to tempt the palette.  Such mouth-watering dishes of theirs as Cougar Lobster Mac, made with WSU's famous Cougar Gold Cheese, and their pan-seared Bayou Catfish are absolutely to die for!

Foundry Kitchen & Cocktails
Facebook page
Website (with menu)
125 S.E. Spring Street, Pullman, WA 99163
A good ol' classic hometown casual American bar and grill type of eatery, with a clean, classy, modern look and feel.  Enjoy delicious cocktails, food, and live music some nights.

August 2020 Update: I have received reports that The Lumberyard has CLOSED PERMANENTLY.
Lumberyard Food Hall
305 N. Grand Avenue, Pullman, WA 99163
Another very recent addition to the Pullman restaurant scene, this place also just opened in 2018 and has been off to delightful start.  Located in the old Pullman Building Supply facility, "lumberyard" is a very fitting name for this place.  I had been thinking about doing something along these lines in Pullman for a while, but the Lumberyard beat me to it!  (And I never had any money to get the dream off the ground).  A spacious indoor food hall is just what Pullman needed!  There is also an attached (but with its own dedicated, private entrance) luxury suite (lodging) you can stay at the Lumberyard Food Hall.

South Fork Public House
1680 S. Grand Avenue, Pullman, WA 99163
Opened by Pullmanites Wade Dissmore (there's the Dissmore connection!) and Jim Harbour in 2010 with the goal of creating a fun, casual restaurant that would be welcoming to all, South Fork Public House is just that - a clean, smart-casual American bar and grill type of eatery with something to offer people of all ages!  The establishment dons a full bar with large-screen TVs and a delicious appetizer menu, making it a great place to watch the game with your pals!  Of course, in addition to the bar, South Fork offers a mouth-watering full menu selection and a spacious restaurant area for individuals, groups, and families of all sizes and ages.  Their rack of ribs is absolutely incredible; as is their mac & cheese made with WSU's world-renown Cougar Gold cheese.  Looking for catering for a local event?  South Fork caters!  Check out what they have to offer here at A Fork in the Road, the catering arm of South Fork Public House.

The Hilltop Restaurant
928 N.W. Olsen Street, Pullman, WA 99163
Since the hotel and restaurant's grand re-opening in 2013 following extensive expansion and upgrades and its 2018 acquisition by Coast Hotels, The Hilltop Restaurant (and hotel, too!) is still alive and kicking - stronger than ever!  Perched on top of Sunnyside Hill (as the name would imply), The Hilltop Restaurant offers breathtaking panoramic views of Pullman looking into town for the West.  The restaurant serves classic Western cuisine - such as wings, sandwiches, fish & chips, and more - and offers a full bar.  With outdoor dining options available, The Hilltop Restaurant is a great place to enjoy a drink or a meal in the Summer (or any time of year) and soak up the views of Pullman.

The Black Cypress
215 E. Main Street, Pullman, WA 99163
This Mediterranean place on Main Street has some of the best food in town - and a full bar!  Greek-born Nick Pitsilionis opened The Black Cypress in Pullman 2009, reportedly having a dream about a black cypress tree the day before signing the lease for the property.  Pitsilionis's aim was to create a menu selection which allowed for innovation, yet remained simple and straightforward at its heart.  The Black Cypress offers a chic, hip, modern venue with a smattering of industrial steam-punk and is known as a great place for couples of all ages to go for a romantic evening out.  You can go straight to their menu here.

Sweet Mutiny
1195 S.E. Bishop Boulevard, Pullman, WA 99163
You'll find frozen yogurt, cupcakes, and other delicious pastry treats here!  It's located in the same strip mall as Tan's Chinese Restaurant and the DOL's Vehicle Licensing Office on Southeast Bishop Boulevard.  Sweet Mutiny is a popular spot for community group gatherings - especially groups that involve children, like scouts, child care, and school groups, although plenty of other groups with members of all ages enjoy community gatherings at Sweet Mutiny, too!

Old European Restaurant
455 S. Grand Avenue, Pullman, WA 99163
This is a breakfast and lunch place and is famous for their breakfasts.  As the name implies you can get your fix of classical European cuisine here: everything from crepes, to pancakes, to scrumptious sandwiches, to traditional Hungarian goulash, and more!  First established in Post Falls, Idaho, Pullman is lucky to house one of Old European's 3 locations (the other location outside of Post Falls being Spokane).

Mexican Cuisine:

Taqueria Chapparito (link to website)
Taqueria Chapparito (link to Facebook page)

Rancho Viejo (main site)
170 S. Grand Avenue, Pullman, WA 99163 (Pullman Location)
Originally established in Spokane Valley (before Spokane Valley was even an incorporated area), this delicious Mexican family sit-down restaurant has grown into a thriving regional chain, with several locations in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.  Thankfully one of their venues is Pullman!  A clean, relaxed atmosphere with very friendly employees.  You can jump straight to their mouth-watering menu here.

Nuevo Vallarta (link to menusguide.com)

A laid back, sit-down style Mexican restaurant on North Grand Avenue, right beside The Emerald Chinese Restaurant and directly across the street from Dissmore's IGA.  With its colorful decor and friendly staff, Nuevo Vallarta in Pullman, WA, is a must for every Mexican food lover!  They had a website at one time, the now-defunct nvallarta.com.

Boasting Chinese and Hawaiian cuisine, this simple, no-frills, sit-down style restaurant with delicious food also has a big screen TV and is popular on Game Days!  The owner is very friendly and personable and happy to chat with you when he's around.  They offer many of the "standard" American-Chinese dishes as well as a very authentic food selection for those who are ready for it! Talk to the owner and he will be happy to assist you!

Oasis Teriyaki & Pho

Phikun's Thai Cuisine (link to Facebook page)
1020 S. Grand Avenue, Pullman, WA 99163
Tucked between Perfection Tire and the Pullman Department of Licensing, you'd never guess this place to be the best Thai food around for miles from the looks of it on the outside; however, it most definitely is!  From a man who spent most of my childhood in Southeast Asia, I can say with a straight face that Phikun's is incredibly authentic and tasty.  You can see pictures of the menu here.

Popo
405 SE Bishop Boulevard #3, Pullman, WA 99163
Owned by a group of several people, Popo was an instant success and expanded quickly to other locations since its relatively recent opening in 2015.  In many regards, Popo is your "classic" modern bubble tea shop (for those who have been to East Asia, you will understand); however, they sport a full menu of both snacks/appetizers as well as entrees.  The drinks are too die for.  Their food is good, too, although much of it is just your standard stuff.  They do make some of their own unique dishes with a very delicious Popo "signature taste", including killer Mongolian beef (I get it almost every time I go there for food) and even individual serving Hot Pot (which is also extremely delicious!).

Red Bento
395 N.E. Stadium Way, Pullman, WA 99163
Scrumptious Japanese, Korean, American-Chinese, and Asian fusion

RRD's Chinatown Cafe (link to Facebook page)
1205 N. Grand Avenue, Pullman, WA 99163
Jose from the Philippines and his family are the owners of this RRD's Franchise, a Deli/Food Kiosk inside Pullman's famous and iconic Dissmore's IGA Grocery Store.  There is no seating at this facility, but it's a perfect place to grab a take-out bite.  Jose also does catering.

Tan's Chinese Restaurant (link to Facebook page)
1195 Bishop Boulevard, Pullman, WA 99163
A very recent addition to the Pullman restaurant scene, this place just opened in 2018 and has already received numerous excellent reviews by restaurant patrons.

The Emerald Chinese Restaurant - know as Emerald, or The Emerald, by locals - is an iconic Pullman landmark restaurant that has been in town at its current location directly across the street from Dissmore's IGA for many years.  A simple, no-frills, sit-down style American-Chinese restaurant with delicious food and a relaxed atmosphere.

Now owned by long time Pullman resident Doug C., you often here this College Hill club - yes, it's a full-on 21+ only club, not just a bar - affectionately referred to as "The ZZU" (pronounced "The Zoo").  In addition to their large TVs, the ZZU Club + Grub offers a full service bar, food, pool, darts, music, opportunities for dancing, and live DJs.  This is one you might miss if you don't know the area, as it is not your "traditional" Greek Row or downtown area bar.  Located on Merman Drive, this night club cab be found just a few doors down from the Cougs Corner Mart out at the famous 4-way stop by the Campus Commons and other near-by WSU student apartments.  This ideal location puts the ZZU Club + Grub right near a major North City Bus Stop (Terre View and Merman) - a nice plus and very well located to discourage drinking and driving!
